February 2008 News
Healthy Heart, Healthy Body!
February is
healthy heart
month. Besides red hearts, roses and valentines
also consider your own heart health. Maintenance of your
personal health is one the best gifts to give to your
loved ones.
- High blood pressure and poor cholesterol ratios can
increase risk of heart disease. Early detection is important in
for prevention. See your doctor to have your blood pressure and
cholesterol checked regularly.
- Small dietary changes can make a difference; limiting
intake of saturated fat found in meats and full fat dairy products, and
increasing fiber intake from whole grains, fruits and vegetables can
help to improve cholesterol
ratios and blood pressure.
- Exercise, to improve cholesterol ratios, lower blood
pressure and reduce excess weight.
Proper diet and exercise are a few of the best
ways to lower cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure. If
you’ve been struggling with these numbers, schedule an appointment with
Sheri. Sheri’s background in disease prevention has helped many
clients normalize weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, triglyceride and
glucose levels.
Health Benefits of Chocolate
Choose dark
chocolate for your
Valentine this month. Dark chocolate contains flavonoids and
antioxidants which can provide health benefits for the heart.
Milk
chocolate does not have the same affect and contains more sugar.
Don’t
overdo it, chocolate is still high in sugar and fat. Have a
little bit
of high quality, satisfying dark chocolate. To enjoy and fully
experience dark chocolate, let it melt in your mouth, you’ll pick up
the subtle flavors this way. And it makes the chocolate last
longer!
