From today's news: Kentucky Fried Chicken to remove trans-fats from food.

Don't got rushing out to buy your fried chicken. This is still a deep-fried, high fat, high calorie product. So KFC will stop frying their foods in hydrogenated soybean oil, sure it may be a better oil (maybe) but the nutritional profile of the food itself hasn't changed. Sorry to burst the bubble (for you fried foodie types). In addition to this news, the KFC food will be fried in a genetically-modified (GMO) soybean oil. They just couldn't get the same flavor from regular soybean oil. Don't listen to the news headlines. This is not a healthier product! It's still deep-fried! Then you need to decide if you want to support the GMO industry, any potential untested health effects, and the enviromental and health implications of GMO farming.

Much of this is a pre-emptive strike against upcoming lawsuits from the Center for Science in the Public Interest for it's use of trans-fats. Also a campaign for a Trans-Fat Free New York. You'll start seeing more trans-fat free foods in the market.
